As well as this, the painter lost their pencil and asks Piku to find it in the basement. When Piku goes to the painter's house, the painter is exhausted and said they weren't a good painter, because the scarecrow's face was supposed to scare the birds but the birds aren't fazed by it. After, Piku is told the painter is having trouble and to visit them. A villager comes up and thanks you for fixing it. Piku walks past the fixed bridge, back to the village. The spider is unhappy at being kicked and said "DON'T DO THAT EVER AGAIN!". Piku kicks the spider at the other part of the broken bridge and the spider's web fixed the bridge. When Piku goes over to the broken bridge, a spider is found in the tree. They capture Piku in a cage, placed in the center of town, where they quickly realize they are not much of a threat at all, and let them go, as long as they fix the broken bridge. Once they arrive, the villagers react with fear at the sight of "The Beast". Piku ventures to the nearby village, accidentally breaking the bridge along the way. Upon waking up, Piku meets the Ghost, who greets them and guides them out of the cave after teaching them how to kick things and use mushrooms to bounce. The nearby villagers were aware that some sort of creature inhabited the cave, but believed it to be a dangerous beast. Piku is also disliked by the store owner in the valley, who has a grudge against them simply for not truly being a beast, thus ruining the store owner's plans of selling beast-themed merchandise.īefore the events of the game, Piku had been sleeping in a cave near the valley, for an unknown period of time. Sunshine, they are on good terms with the robots, who no longer have to obey their boss. ![]() Sunshine and his robots, as Piku helps the The Rebels foil Mr. The most notable instance of Piku being rude in the story is when they kick the spider across the chasm near the mountain village, and even then, this is done not out of malice, but to help fix the village's bridge. This does not have any ultimate effect on character interactions, however. This includes kicking other characters, annoying them, or destroying Sam the Slime's potteries, which saddens the slime. ![]() Other characters feel comfortable trusting Piku even after only a few minutes of meeting them.Īs Piku is a player-controlled character, the player can make them behave rudely if so desired. When they make a mistake, they set out to fix it. Over the course of the game, They helps anyone they encounter who is in need of help, usually for no reward. Piku is, overall, a kind and helpful character. Please note that not all characters in the game are beans, >:C There's a quest to give Piku some arms, in case you thought they were missing something. Some hats grant abilities that are necessary to complete the game, while others are simply for fun. These hats are received from other characters either as gifts or through purchase. Piku can alter their appearance, and sometimes abilities, by wearing various hats, such as the X-Ray Glasses, Pencil Hat, and Flower Hat. Piku's legs are extendable, seen in their ability to grapple on hooks. Piku can also kick, which is more often useful for moving objects around than for attacking other characters. They can walk, jump, and swim, as well as retract their legs into their body to quickly roll on land or sink in water. Piku is a red bean creature with two black eyes and two relatively long legs. They is also one of two protagonists (alongside Niku) of the co-op mode. Given Pikuniku itself hasn't been updated for ages, and I can't save even when restoring the files to a state when I could save, I'm presuming it's either an update to Steam itself, or my system (Arch Linux).Piku, also known as " The Beast", is the protagonist of the story mode of Pikuniku. Googling for "Steam File Write Failed" brings up zero hits. I've tried checking permissions, deleting this save, deleting this path, restoring both the second and third paths to a state when I could save, launching with no network connection, launching without Steam, but I cannot get Pikuniku to save. However, this file is not subsequently modified when I play the game. I can replace the file there with various old saves, which load as expected. The second two seem to contain save and config files. The first location is just the program itself, and has been unmodified for ages (and I verified, and uninstalled/installed Pikuniku just in case). These seem to be only three paths that Pikuniku is modifying: I keep incremental backups of my system, so I checked the last time I know the game was saving correctly, in November 2019.
